Rison Raises €50 Million for Nordic Climate Transition

Rison Capital has entered into a partnership with the SEB Nordic Energy fund to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy in the Nordic region. The initiative means that €50 million is allocated to a joint company which will make investments in climate-promoting projects at companies within the manufacturing industry, real estate sector, and public sector.

The collaboration with SEB Nordic Energy means that Rison Capital can now help significantly more companies and organizations to quickly scale up their climate efforts while also making a good deal.

"Our model enables climate-smart investments that do not fit within the companies' own investment budgets. Instead of postponing these projects to the future, they can be implemented today. In many cases with reduced costs and not least significant energy savings," says Jesper Jonsteg, CEO of Rison Capital.

Buying climate-smart technology as a service has long been a well-established model, for example, when it comes to solar energy. Instead of the company itself making an investment in solar panels on its roof, they sign an agreement where they get access to the electricity produced by the solar energy system.

Rison now offers a similar solution for virtually all types of technology and measures that reduce energy consumption in a business or property. This could involve everything from insulation, LED lighting, and ventilation and heating systems in properties to charging infrastructure, machinery, and energy storage.

Those who with our help choose to make more and larger efforts for energy efficiency today can not only complete their climate transition much faster. They can also get significantly better terms for our services. In plain language, the more climate-smart you act, the more money you can save," says Jesper Jonsteg.

The capital within the agreement with SEB Nordic Energy will be used to finance projects via Nordic technology partners in areas including lighting, ventilation, heating, and energy efficiency. As Rison now rapidly scales up its operations, there is also a need to find significantly more suppliers who want to move from being pure technology suppliers to becoming service companies.

"With the partnership with Rison, we can broaden our investments to also include projects within energy efficiency in addition to investments in, among other things, small-scale hydro and existing wind power. We see the collaboration as a good complement to our investment strategy, where energy efficiency becomes an important part to enable the energy transition in the Nordics and achieve sustainability goals," says Elin Löfblad, Portfolio Manager at SEB Nordic Energy.

Rison experiences a very high interest in its offer from both customers and suppliers. There is a pent-up need for solutions that can enable necessary climate investments. The partnership with SEB Nordic Energy means that capital from institutional investors also reaches energy efficiency projects where large investments are needed.
